These apps pay you back for everyday shopping such as groceries, fuel, gifts, and more. If you’re buying it anyway, you might as well be earning cash back, too! I’ve been using Rakuten for years now (literally since 2017!), and have earned hundreds of dollars in cash back from rebates. I just ordered Christmas cards and earned 11% back from Minted! TopCashback is like Rakuten but sometimes has a better rebate or different variety of stores. Rebates take longer to process, but you can get some great deals. Check out TopCashback here, and start earning rebates today.

Honey

I haven’t used this one as much as others, but they have good online coupon finds and do rebates as well. It’s very similar to Rakuten and TopCashback. I check all three for apps before I make a purchase to find the best rebate option and coupons. You can join Honey here!

Ibotta

Ibotta is another receipt scanning app, but you have to select offers before you scan your receipt. 11 Arts and Crafts for Small Spaces

October 9, 2023 by Everyday Alaska

So, you’ve got a big love for arts and crafts but nowhere to do them at? Same here. We have a small home with very little space for me to spread out and do all of the crafting hobbies I enjoy. But don’t fret, this minor inconvenience has helped me to come up with a list of arts and craft ideas for small spaces. Many of these ideas even work with smaller budgets as well, and you can even use all these ideas to create items to sell so you can make money for more crafting supplies or maybe even a place with more crafting space!

Please note that this post contains affiliate links which I may earn commission from. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Commissions from these qualifying purchases help support Everyday Alaska at no extra cost to you. Please follow the instructions on all of the recommended items. All of the information provided is my personal opinion, unless otherwise cited or noted.

Calligraphy

Get artsy with calligraphy! My mom and I had a great time learning faux calligraphy and doodling. It’s so inexpensive; you just need paper, calligraphy pens (this beginner set is great!) or basic makers, and a workbook or free YouTube tutorials. It’s a really relaxing hobby, and so handy for making cards and letter writing.

Card Making

Speaking of letters, why not make some cards? Go “old school” and create some beautiful snail mail. There are endless card creating ideas on Pinterest. You can really dive into it and get stamps, embossing tools, and more, buy card making kits, or just get some scissors, craft paper, and a glue stick and let your imagination take care of the rest! Once you’re finished making some cards check out the Veteran Pen Pal Project and The Angel Card Project on Facebook to find some recipients who would love to get your crafty cards in the mail.

Painting

Although it would be convenient, you don’t need an art studio to enjoy painting. Go online or to a local craft store and grab a canvas, brushes, and a few colors of paint. Head outside for inspiration, or check out Pinterest for ideas. Or, download the Procreate app on your phone or tablet to take your medium of choice with you wherever you go. Procreate is a user friendly, inexpensive app that lets you chose from an endless array of colors, digital brushes, pencils, and more to create a unique piece of artwork without even taking up any additional room in your home!

Macrame

This trend seems to go in and out of style, but after giving it a try I think I’ll always have some macrame cord in my craft kit. You can create some unique, useful, and beautiful items with just cord, beads, and hooks. It’s a budget friendly craft to try, and perfect for making gifts or items to sell such as keychains, plant hangers, bags, and ornaments.

Ornaments

Speaking of macrame ornaments, crafting ornaments of any kind is a fun and inexpensive craft for small spaces. You can do pressed flower clay ornaments, paint wooden ornaments (a great project for kids to do, too!), hand stitch fabric ornaments, and create beautiful embroidered ornaments.

Embroidery

My aunt got me an embroidery starter kit for Christmas last year and it’s such a great craft to do, especially if you need to contain your crafting space to a smaller area like I do. There are so many different things you can embellish and create with embroidery. From ornaments, as listed above, to embellishing jeans, pillows, curtains, blankets, and creating personalized bookmarks, embroidery gives you an endless amount of places to show off your creativity.

Embroidery thread comes in every color you can think of.

Bookmarks

DIY bookmarks: useful for yourself, handy as gifts, and perfect for craft sales! Create an embroidered bookmark like this one, pick and dry some flowers to laminate into a beautiful natural bookmark, or crochet a cute little marker as a quick and fun project.

Crocheting

The real OG of my crafting obsession: crocheting. All you need are some hooks, yarn, and a good tutorial or two to get started. I’d suggest starting with a simple single or double crochet scarf to get the hang of it and figure out basic stitches and patterns. After that, you can try make pot holders, shawls, sweaters, blankets, stuffed animals, and more. It’s a very relaxing hobby, and is an easy craft to do in a small space. Plus, you can make some useful gifts for recipients of all ages with crochet.

Get crafty with yarn. You can make some things with just one skein.

Window Art

This is the perfect combination of art and decorating. I love, love, love decorating for different holidays and seasons, but we don’t have much room to store large decorations. Solution? Decorating our windows with window markers! These window markers come in a variety of colors, are inexpensive, and wash off easily. It’s a simple way to spruce up your home for the holidays and get a little artsy, too. If drawing is not your talent you can still enjoy creating window art. Check out Pinterest for simple doodles and drawings to give you inspiration and go from there!

Wreaths

Speaking of decorating, why not create your own wreath? This is one of the more expensive and bigger crafting projects on the list, but it’s so fun to do. Just grab a wreath form of your liking (I usually use grapevine), some dried or fake florals, ribbon or other adornments, and go to town creating your custom wreath.

Grapevine wreath forms are very durable and budget friendly.

Blankets

There’s no sewing machine or needle and thread required for simple tie blankets. Grab two pieces of fleece of whatever size you choose, some good scissors, and you’re good to go! Check out the instructions for this simple project here.

Simple corner ties keep these cozy blankets together.

I hope this list of arts and crafts for small spaces has give you inspiration to try a new project. It’s getting rather cold and dark here, so I needed a little inspiration myself to start up a new craft and stay busy during these cozy winter days. Happy crafting, friends!

30+ Gift Ideas for Seniors

November 9, 2022 by Everyday Alaska

It’s hard to shop for the person who has everything, and by the time people are a bit older they usually have just that. You probably have heard your grandparents or other elderly family and friends say that they don’t need any gifts, and truthfully, they probably don’t. But, everyone loves to give gifts and no matter how old you are it’s nice to get gifts, too. Below, I’ve created a list of great gifts for senior adults so you can hopefully find the perfect gifts for the seniors in your life.

Gifts of Time

Gifts of time and activities are one of the best types of gifts for seniors, or anyone, really. If you are lucky enough to live close to your grandparents or other elderly persons in your life, these may be just the ideas for you. If you’re farther away and aren’t able to see them in person, check out the categories below.

  • Go for a Drive-Many seniors spend much of their time at home, especially if they’re in a nursing home or assisted living, so getting out to see the sights is a treat. Due to mobility issues and more, it’s not always easy to go on outings when people get more elderly, but it’s always worth it.
  • Lunch-While you’re out and about, why not take them to get a fancy coffee or a nice lunch?
Grandma and I at her birthday party.
  • Plant Flowers-If they’re able, take seniors to a greenhouse to pick out some flowers, or choose some on your own. Head back to their home and help them plant the flowers in an area where they can view them from a window.
  • Home Repairs and Improvements-Does your friend or relative need safety railings added to their shower? Do they have a leaky faucet that needs repair? Does the shed need a new coat of paint? Often, these jobs that senior citizens could once easily do are not so simple anymore. Ask if they need any home repairs or improvements done, or see if you notice anything that needs sprucing up or that could be safer. Many of these could be DIY, but if not, hire a reputable company to lend some help.
  • Cooking and Baking-Maybe grandma is still having a great time cooking up a storm as always, but if that’s not the case it may be nice to go help her cook, bake, or even bring food over to her. Elderly adults may not have the energy or desire to cook anymore, and not cooking leads to not eating (or eating unhealthy meals), which leads to deteriorating health. Keep the seniors in your life happy and healthy with some hearty meals. (If grandma and/or grandpa live far away, consider sending them a Spoonful of Comfort meal!)
  • Home Chores-Shoveling, lawn care, and housekeeping are laborious chores for people of any age, but for senior adults some of these may not even be possible to attempt. To assist them, take on one or more of these chores yourself, but don’t get burned out! If it becomes too much or you don’t live nearby, hire companies to do these services. Always be sure to check reviews, the BBB, and more to ensure that these are legitimate and trustworthy companies. You don’t want anyone taking advantage of the elderly.
  • Outings-Take a trip to the zoo, a local park, or botanical garden. As I said before, I know outings with older adults may not be simple, but just know they do appreciate you taking time to spend with them, and you’ll enjoy it, too.
Trinity Greenhouse, a greenhouse in Soldotna, Alaska.
Head to a greenhouse to pick out some colorful flowers.

Gifts for Seniors to Enjoy Indoors

If your elderly loved one is unable to get outdoors much or just doesn’t enjoy doing so any more, these ideas are great options for them.

  • Window Clings-You can often pick up seasonal window clings at Walmart or other stores to help cheer up a room.
  • Storyworth-This is my favorite gift idea. Storyworth is a subscription that sends questions the recipient via email for them to answer. Once they have completed a year’s worth of questions, they get compiled into a book, creating their autobiography. Learn more about it (and save $10!) here! You can also check out my list of other great subscriptions here.
  • Cards and Other Games-Is grandma the card shark of the nursing home? Pick her up some new cards or get her hooked on a new game of Uno or Bananagrams.
  • Coloring Books-Pick up a new pack of markers or crayons to gift with it.
  • Photo Book-Creating a photo book with Shutterfly is the perfect gift for any grandparent or elderly friend or relative. They are much easier to see and hold than on a phone, and it’s a great way for them to share the pictures with other friends and relatives.
Friends and relatives may enjoy books of photos from years past.
  • Magazine Subscription-There’s a magazine out there for every interest. Some subscriptions even come in large print options, too, and they are a budget-friendly gift option.
  • Puzzle-The perfect gift to do on their own or with a group. Puzzles are especially popular at senior centers and assisted living homes, so it’s a gift they can share if they would like to as well.
  • Plants-Any low maintenance plant helps cheer up a space and makes a dandy gift.
  • Personalized Calendar-Creating a custom calendar for older friends and relatives is a great way to help them keep track of holidays, events, birthdays and more, while also having beautiful family photos to see.
  • Lotion-Just because their getting older doesn’t mean self care goes out the window! Grab their favorite kind of lotion or give a new one a try. According to this RealSimple article “the main concern with patients in their 60s and beyond is lack of hydration and moisture retention”, so it makes for a very useful gift.
  • Books-If your parents, grandparents, or any other senior adult on your gift list loves to read as much as my grandma did, then books are a great option!
River City books in Soldotna, AK. A great place to find books for anyone of any age, including gifts for senior adults.
Head to the bookstore to find a new read for the senior citizen on your gift list.
  • New Placemats/Tablecloth-The placemats and tablecloths that adorn your elder’s table may be older than you. Spiff things up a bit by getting them some new table linens. You can even DIY these if you enjoy sewing.
  • Perfume-Change up the scent or get one of your loved ones favorites.
  • Puzzle Books-You can often find may puzzle books in large print for older adults who may have trouble with their eyesight. This is also an inexpensive gift for senior adults if you’re on a budget.
  • Towels-Out with the old, in with the new! That is, if they approve! Just like the placemats and table cloths, your grandparents, great aunts and uncles, parents, and more, may have towels that are up there in age. I remember my grandma and I went through a catalog to pick out new towels and bathroom accessories she wanted to order, and she was pretty excited about getting things spruced up. Not sure if they’d like it? Just ask.
  • Digital Photo Frame-Keep the senior adults in your life up to date with the latest pictures from all their friends and relatives by purchasing a frame that can receive pictures via email. I have not purchased this frame yet, but it has amazing reviews.
  • Kid’s Artwork Book-If Grandpa Pete or Great Aunt Mary are running out of room on their refrigerator for more kid’s art, you can take those masterpieces and create a book for them to view all the creativity of their grandkids and great nieces and nephews in one place!
  • Candies-Who doesn’t like a box of chocolates or their favorite sweet treat as a gift?

Outdoor Gifts for Seniors

The best part of these gifts is they can be enjoyed inside or outside, so no matter what your recipient’s preference is, they’ll get a useful gift they can appreciate.

  • Humming Bird Feeder-My grandma enjoyed watching humming birds. The great thing about watching humming birds, or birds at any feeder for that matter, is that you can watch them from inside if the the feeder is in front of a window, or you can sit on your porch and view them as well.
  • Cane-An odd gift? Maybe. Useful? Definitely. If the senior adult on your shopping list uses a cane to assist them, why not make sure they’re using a pretty one? My grandma had one with butterflies on it and got many compliments about it. I’d imagine that if someone reluctant to use a cane got compliments about theirs, it may just encourage them to use it more often and be safer by doing so.
  • Professional Photography Session-A perfect gift for the senior who has everything. Maybe they’d like to get spiffed up and have a session by themselves, with their spouse, or with the kids, grandkids, dogs, cats, parrots, or whatever else they may have. It’s a fantastic reason to get dolled up and a great memory to have as well.
  • Flowers-Have your recipient pick out flowers they’d like or choose some on your own to plant for them in a pot or outdoor planter box.
Flower baskets make for pretty summertime gifts.
  • Flags-If your grandparents and elderly relatives need a new flag for outside, this would make a useful gift for them.
  • Metal Birds-I really love these. They are just metal bird shapes that can be pounded into trees or posts for decoration. They don’t take up much room, look really unique, and come in a variety of species. I got this one on Etsy for my dad.
  • Garden Flags-Many box stores and shops sell small garden or decorative flags throughout the seasons. They add a cute addition to any outdoor area.

This gift list has a variety of ideas for senior adults, grandparents, elderly neighbors, parents, aunts, uncles and more, but more than likely the gift they’ll most appreciate is your time. If you’re nearby, go visit them. If you’re far away, take time to call, FaceTime (some seniors are more tech savvy than you think, and many nursing homes can help set up calls for you), and send a card.

The Best Dog Gift Basket Ideas

November 2, 2022 by Everyday Alaska

Shopping for you best friend can be difficult, especially if that friend has four legs and is a little furry. But not to worry, I’ve got your shopping list covered! Making a gift basket for a dog is basically the same as making one for a hooman, I mean human. Take time to think about their interests, age, what they would use or need, or a theme, and then check the ideas below to see what matches your little (or big!) buddy the best. The sky’s the limit, and you can spend as little or as much as you like on your pup’s gift basket.

You can start your dog gift basket a couple different ways. Maybe you have a puppy that needs a bigger bowl? Start with the bowl as the “basket” and fill it from there. Maybe you have a sporty pup that you’re getting a new frisbee for? Start there and see what type of basket or container would be useful. Check out the ideas below to get started, or mix and match ideas to suit your furry friend!

A quick PSA before you start shopping, as well. Make sure that the toys, treats, and items you purchase are suited to your dog’s age, size, and chewing strength, follow the included instructions for the items, and supervise your fur baby while they’re playing.

Puppy Love

Oh, the puppy stage. So much biting, training, treats, and squeaky toys. And don’t forget their adorable little faces. For puppies, I’d suggest getting them a new bowl, since they do grow so fast, or a toy basket to use to hold their gifts. After that, I’d fill it with the following things.

  • Kong Binkie
  • Kong Filling
  • Crinkle Dog Toy (with no stuffing)
  • Teething Toy
  • Ball for Outdoor Play
  • Flavored Bubbles
  • Collar (make sure it will extend to fit a growing puppy)
Out little buddy when is was actually little.

Travel and Adventure Buddies

If you have an outdoorsy pup that goes everywhere with you, have I got the ”basket” for you! This dog travel bag is the bees knees. It comes with plenty of pouches, dog food storage bags, two collapsible bowls, and a poop bag pouch. Just fill it with these fun treats and necessities, and you’re ready to go! It has really been a game changer since our lab Trapper goes everywhere with us.

  • Dog Poop Bags
  • Doggie Lifejacket
  • Dog First Aid Kit (add in some Blood Stopper for minor cuts)
  • Quick Drying Towel
  • Water Bottle
  • Treats
  • Outdoor Ball
Beach day with our buddy. Check out ways to keep your pup cool here.

The Practical Pup

What do you get the dog that has everything? Great question! I’ve been asking myself that this year as I’ve been trying to figure out what to get our good boy for Christmas, and this is what I’ve come up with. Since he’s four now, he really has all that he needs. An overflowing toy basket, a large variety of treats, a comfy bed. So, for his ”basket”, I’m being selfish this year and getting him something that will benefit both of us. I’m purchasing this dog bowl set up, and a food storage bin. I know, not very exciting for him, but I’m thrilled! Plus, I plan on filling it with these item’s that I know he’ll enjoy. Shhhh, don’t tell him!

  • Yummy Chummies
  • New Collar
  • West Paw Merry Moose
  • Kong Filling
  • Lick Mat
Doing a photo shoot with your pup (lots of treats included) is always fun!

Sporty Dogs

Does your dog love playing outside and going for walks? Check out these ideas here, and use a metal tub as a gift basket and storage bin for outdoor toys.

  • Kong Jumbler Ball
  • West Paw Frisbee
  • Sprinkler
  • Booties (great for colder months outdoors, these 100% made in America booties are the best ones our pup has tried)
  • Harness (this one is simple to put on and very affordable)
  • Nerf Gun Tennis Ball Shooter (a blast for dogs and their parents)
A chocolate lab playing with his frisbee in a kiddie pool. Frisbees are great for dog gift baskets.
Slobber flying, a wagging tail, water everywhere. What more could a lab ask for?

Senior Buddies

As your best friend gets older it may be harder to find gifts for them. They’ve probably collected a lot of toys through the years, and maybe they don’t play as much, but they deserve just as much love. Instead of an actual dog gift basket, why not get them the bed of their dreams to relax on and leave them some special gifts on it.

My dog has had this orthopedic bed for almost three years now. It still has the same amount of volume to it, hasn’t got lumpy, and is so easy to wash. You could probably even have a mattress protector covering the inside foam incase your senior pup has accidents, and the foam will help their joints as well. Don’t forget to include a few fun things for your BFF as well, such as the items below.

  • Yummy Chummies (these soft salmon treats will be easy for your dog to chew)
  • Pill Pockets (if your buddy is taking any medicine these may help make it easier)
  • Large Stuffed Animal (good for your pup to nap with)
  • Food Mixers/Toppers (as your pup gets older their sense of taste may decline, using a topper may help their food be more appealing and tasty to them)
  • Puppy Scoops

Homebody Hounds

Is your little buddy not a fan of the great outdoors? No problem, there’s still plenty of gifts they’ll enjoy! Use a treat jar as a gift container and fill it with these fun goodies.

  • Chew Toy
  • Hide-a-Squirrel Puzzle
  • Freeze Dried Treats
  • Snuffle Mat

If you’re looking for the perfect dog gift basket ideas for your pup’s birthday, Christmas, adoption day, and more, I hope you’ve found them here! What breed of pup are you shopping for and what do you plan on getting them? Leave a comment below and happy shopping!

Beanie

Some girls start wearing beanies in August and don’t take them off till April (or ever), so a hat can be a gift that she can really get a lot of use out of. I recommend this Carhartt one since its inexpensive, cute, and warm, plus it comes in a variety of colors.

Popcorn Popper Kit

Fresh popcorn and a cozy movie night at home? You can’t go wrong with a gift like that.

Manicure

A gift card to a local salon for a manicure is a relaxing and special treat to gift someone.

Magazine Subscriptions

Just because everything is online now doesn’t mean magazines are out. There’s a magazine for everyone from gardening to celebrity gossip, travel to food, and you can get them as a digital subscription or in print. It’s a great gift to give since it lasts for a year, or however long you want it to, and it’s a great way to learn new things and relax at the same time.

Coffee Card

Coffee cards are always useful. Bad day? Grab a coffee for a pick me up! Got a raise? Celebrate with a smoothie! Tired? Get a double shot to perk up! Coffee cards are great for any occasion and are always a useful gift.

Movie Tickets

Who doesn’t want a night out at the movies? Giving movie tickets gives your friend the option of having a fun night out whenever they’d like.

Fondue Pot

Maybe a gift you haven’t thought of, a fondue pot is a great idea. It can be used for entertaining, a quiet night at home, or just for yourself if you want to indulge! There are so many things that can be enjoyed with a fondue pot, and it is really a fun gift to give.

Nail Polish Set

Sometimes it is nice to have a relaxing night at home to watch a good movie, have some snacks, and paint your nails. A nail polish set is a great idea because it gives you favorite gal some color options and is a fun gift to receive.

Foot Spa

Turn the home pedicure game up a notch with a foot spa. Heated. Massaging. Bubbles. All those things any lady will love, right in the comfort of their own home.

Board Games

A great gift idea for the entertainer, board games or card games are a great present. Give the classics like Monopoly and Clue, or surprise them with something new like Latice Hawaii or It’s in the Bag.

Puzzles

Something to do alone or with a group, a puzzle is a great gift that can be used many, many times, or framed as artwork.

Artwork

And speaking of artwork, a decorative wall hanging, painting, or wall decor is another great gift idea for her.

Massage Pillow

Who doesn’t want to come home after a long day, relax on the couch, and have a heated massage? No one, that’s who, which is why a massage pillow is the perfect gift for anyone for any occasion.

Foam Roller

Foam rollers are popular for recovery after those hard workouts and are used by many to incorporate to into their health and fitness routine. It’s a unique and unexpected gift that is also fairly inexpensive as well.

Headband

Headbands can be used for working out, as a hair accessory, or to cover up a bad hair day. There are a variety to choose from, and they are so useful to have. You can never have to many of them, so it’s a safe bet that if you give a headband as a gift it will definitely be used.

Hair Towel Wrap

I love getting and giving useful gifts, and this is one of those things I really use at least every other day. It saves your hair from harsh blow drying and keeps your wet hair from dripping everywhere. It’s such an inexpensive and handy gift to get.

Gloves

If you’re giving a gift during the chilly season, a pair of warm gloves is a great idea.

Socks

Giving some fun patterned socks, or fuzzy comfy socks is a cute and budget friendly gift. You can even fill them with a few other trinkets like the nail polish listed above, or the lip balm below.

Lip Balm

Pair some lip balm with socks and nail polish and you’ve got yourself a cute little gift to give that will be appreciated and used.

Purse

You can spend as little or as much as you like when giving the gift of a purse. A designer name can be in the hundreds of dollars, or give a more budget friendly gift of a lesser known brand that is equally as fashionable and useful.

Chocolate

Chocolate is a safe bet for any person or occasion. Its pretty easy to find out what type of chocolate a person likes and its an economical and sweet (pun intended) gift to give.

Q&A a Day Journal

We got this gift for our wedding and I thought it was such a thoughtful, fun, and nice gift to get. You and your wife/fiancé/girlfriend answer a question a day together for a three year span and can compare and discuss answers. It’s a great conversation starter and an awesome way to learn more about each other.

Shawl

A clothing item that you don’t need an exact size for, how perfect! I know people are always afraid to give clothes as a gift, so a shawl is a great way to do that and not have to worry about what size to get!

Plant

Plants make great gifts because they are gifts that can last many, many years and add a natural element to any area of a home. If the girl you are getting a gift for has a brown thumb, though, a fake plant is always a good gift idea for her as well!

Candle Warmer

A wonderful gift idea for her is a candle warmer. They add a cozy ambiance to any room and are a safe way to add fragrance without worrying about forgetting to blow a candle out later. Pair this with some wax melts and you’ve got yourself a dandy gift to give.

Canvas Prints

Getting a canvas print of a photo you took with your friend, or even a photo of a landscape or place that is special to them is a thoughtful gift idea.

Photo Session

Get a professional photography session for your friend or family member so they get their photo or  family photos taken.

Wood Burning Kit

You can never have too many hobbies, so why not give her another one with a wood burning kit!

Paint Set

Is wood burning not her style? Maybe a paint set might suit her fancy!

Craft Items

Does she like crafts? Maybe sewing, crocheting, knitting, or scrapbooking? You can never have too many craft items, so get her something that relates to her favorite crafting hobby.

Gift Card

If your unsure of anything she may need or use, gift cards are always a welcome gift. Gift card to Amazon, restaurants, bookstores, craft stores, and more are perfect ideas.

Hammock

There’s nothing like laying in a hammock in the backyard with a good book or snoozing in a hammock by the campsite. Whether you give a tree hammock or freestanding one, it is sure to be an appreciated gift.

Books

There is a book for any gal on your list, just pick an interest, pick a book, and you’ve got yourself a great gift idea.

Hot Hands

Most girls hands are always cold, or so I have heard, so grab a pack, or two, or three of HotHands hand warmers to keep them toasty warm. They even have foot, toe, and body warmers to add as well!

Hulu Subscription

Give the gift of entertainment with a Hulu subscription. With tons of shows to choose from, there’s something for everyone. My favorites are Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.

Toiletries/Makeup Bag

You don’t have to be traveling to exotic places (although that would be fun!) to be in need of a toiletries or makeup bag. Practical, useful, and cute, these bags make fabulous gifts.

Luggage

You may think luggage is an odd gift to give, but it is really a handy and thoughtful gift idea. I got a huge suitcase from my grandma for my junior high graduation and that bag has gone everywhere with me, from road trips through Canada, to weekend getaways, and moving to different states. I’m now twenty-eight years old and that’s the only suitcase I have and use, so I believe luggage is a great gift.

Massage Gift Card

Head online or to your local spa and grab a massage gift card for your loved one.

Heated Blanket

There are few gifts better than this one. Heated blankets are just as cozy and soft as a regular blanket but have a perfectly toasty warming effect. You can get them in many colors, patterns, and textures to suit whomever you’re giving it to as well.

Auto Start

Another gift that I received that I use all the time is the auto start for my truck. I got this as a gift from my now husband, and it has been a real lifesaver on those chilly winter days, and even helped cool the truck off during our unusually hot summer. This is really such a useful and thoughtful gift that many people do not often think giving, but will be very helpful to whom ever  receives it.

Food

Everybody needs food, everybody likes food. Grab a restaurant gift card, make a home cooked meal, or take her out for dinner; any one of those options makes for a great gift!

Cookbooks are a wonderful gift for anyone. Cookbooks are so helpful, fun, and give great inspiration for different meals to try.  There is really a cookbook that will suit anyone, from traditional cast iron cooking to sous vide, and everything in between.

Sweeten ‘em up with some of their favorite candy!

Bluetooth Shower Speaker

Help her with her shower time vocal lessons with a handy dandy bluetooth speaker for the shower.

Lunch Box

Lunch boxes aren’t just for elementary school! Give your friend a cute lunch box to help het pack her lunch in style. One money saving tip I hear all the time is to pack your own lunch, so the gift of a lunch box will save your friend some cash and they are really cute as well! You could even put some goodies in it to help them get started on packing their own lunches.

Perfume

Who doesn’t want to receive little smell good? Not sure what scents your lady likes? There are small sampler sets or rollers to give for her to try!

Event/Attraction Tickets

Tickets to a play, sporting event, concert, zoo, amusement park, and other events or attractions make for great and memorable gifts that you know she will use.

Pool Floatie

She’ll be chilling poolside in style with any of these pool floaties.

Scarf

Scarfs are an affordable and fun gift to give, and blanket scarfs can even have a double use as a blanket when traveling and a scarf when out and about.

Apple Watch Band

If you want to be a big spender and give the gift of an Apple Watch, I’m sure it would be appreciated, but if she already has one a watch band from Groove is a great gift option.

Day Cruise

Give the gift of a memorable day with a day cruise. Wale watching, small island tours, glacier viewing, and more are some day cruise options, and you can even check Groupon for great deals.

Liberty Bottleworks has an amazing selection of American made water bottles to choose from that would make a great gift. You could even fill them with Jelly Bellies or other candy as a surprise bonus gift!

Backpack

Backpacks are great for work, leisure, travel and more. With so many styles, patterns, and fabrics available, the backpack options are endless.

Jewelry

I really think jewelry is just the most timeless and beautiful gift. Earrings, watches, necklaces, and more from Jewelry by Johan made with wood, antler, and even meteorite are available on their website and make super beautiful and one of a kind gifts!

FabFitFun

This is the only subscription box I get, and it is amazing. It’s affordable, fun, and most importantly of all the things in it are actually useful! From skincare to fitness items, kitchen gadgets to jewelry, it is a really worthwhile box to subscribe to and makes a fabulous gift. You can even get $10 off by using this link!

Tool Kit

If she doesn’t already have a tool kit, this is the gift to give. For minor home repairs, measuring for new blinds, hanging photos, and more, a tool kit can really come in handy.

Date Night

Plan a date night for your lady! It’s the perfect gift that can be as inexpensive or as luxurious as you’d like.

Hat

Floppy hats, sun hats, baseball caps. Hats are always useful and can usually fit within any gift budget.

Flowers

I’ll make a blanket statement here, but I believe most girls like flowers. If you’re in search of a gift for her, flowers are a great option and can brighten anyone’s day. Pair it with some chocolate and you’re good to go!

Vehicle Detailing

Paying to have her car detailed or cleaning her car for her is a great gift idea because having a clean and organized car just makes for a better day.

Car Wash

Car wash gift cards are a useful gift that can be used for many washes all year long.

Reusable Shopping Bags

Reusable shopping bags are a great gift in themselves and also make for a great way to package your gifts. I received gifts from my mom and aunt in reusable bags instead of gift bags, which is a great because I now have them to use for groceries and other shopping.

Learning

A great gift idea for her is the gift of learning. Pay for a pottery, decorating, painting class and more to learn something new. Check Groupon for good deals on classes near you!

Rings

Check out Groove Rings for some fun and fashionable silicone rings. She can stack them, wear them as singles, or a combo of both. They also have watch bands!

Hair Accessories

Hair accessories are a useful, inexpensive, and fun gift idea. They make great stocking stuffers!

Camera

One of the most wonderful gifts I have received from my husband was a new camera. He got me a Canon T7i and it is an amazing piece of technology. I really enjoy using it and it has captured many, many memorable moments for our family. Giving her the gift of being able to preserve memories and play with the art form of photography is an incredible gift. Whether it is a fancy professional camera or a more affordable point and shoot, it will be a very appreciated and treasured gift.

Headphones

It’s pretty likely that your friend or family member already has some headphones or earbuds that they got with their phone or for free on a flight, but why not gift them an upgrade with a nice pair of comfortable, quality headphones?

Audible

Honestly, I don’t have a subscription to Audible, but from all I hear it’s a handy service. If you’re on the go or just hanging at home, Audible is a great way to listen to all those books you haven’t read yet and makes for a great gift.

Crockpot

Some people think that getting practical gifts are silly, but really, don’t you want the recipient to actually use the gift you give them? Crockpots are so handy for those busy times when you don’t have time to cook, and they make delicious food. If you give the gift of a crockpot, you are giving a gift of delicious and convenient meals that will be used many, many times.

Instant Pot

Although I don’t have one, I hear Instant Pots are just as useful as crockpots and make great gifts.

Costco Membership

Purchase your friend a Costco Membership! It may seem odd but it’s likely something they will use more than most gifts and is such a useful thing to give. Plus, they can earn money back on purchases and save tons of their monthly shopping bill!

Slippers

My grandma got me slippers as a gift many, many years ago and they have been so useful and comfy to have. I’ve worn them so much that the lining has rubbed off and the soles are getting flat, and I still use them as my garage slippers!

Ornament

If you’re looking for a gift around Christmastime, giving an ornament is a perfect gift. I usually give Hallmark ornaments for Christmas, which I think are really fun and heirloom quality. With hundreds of options, Hallmark has a Christmas ornament for everyone. There are ones for football fans, bird lovers, Disney addicts, and more!

Phone Case

Everyone has a friend that has a perpetually cracked phone screen or frequently drops their phone. Help your peeps out by giving a cute, protective phone case and screen protector to save them hundreds in replacement screens and phones, and fits their personality as well!

Amazon Prime

With a massive library of music, movies, tv shows and more, an Amazon Prime subscription is a great present. Plus, they can get free shipping on Prime items, so it’s a money saving gift as well!

Car Emergency Kit

It’s surprising how many people are unprepared for a roadside emergency. Give yourself and your loved one peace of mind by giving her a roadside emergency car kit. Another unusual gift suggestion but one that could really help your friend or family member in a time of need.

Keurig

I think a Keurig is a fantastic gift for anyone in your life. It’s prefect for coffee, tea, and hot chocolate lovers. We have one I gave my husband for Valentine’s Day, and it’s used multiple times a day.

K Cups

K Cups are a great gift to give with a Keurig or to someone that already has a Keurig. They have so many different brands, flavors, and types of drinks that there is an option for every gal on your gift list.

Personalized Coasters

Slate coasters, photo coasters, leather coasters, wood coasters, cork coasters. Whew, who knew there were so many types of coasters! Personalize a set of coasters and some mugs and you’ve got yourself a great gift set to give.

Pajamas

Pajamas. Specifically PajamaGram pajamas. They are so comfy, so cozy, such good quality, and they cute! I got matching pajamas for Christmas last year for myself, my husband, and our dog (yes, even our dog!). We were just sitting on the couch the other day when he commented on how comfortable they are, and he is still wearing them after a year so I think he approves, and I definitely approve!

Bath Bombs

I love bath bombs. They smell fantastic and make it feel like you’re having some sort of fancy spa day in your house, and that spa day feeling is a perfect gift to give.

Jewelry Organizer

You can never have too much jewelry, but it can be too unorganized. Giving her a jewelry organizer can be a very practical and cute gift. You can purchase many different designs and colors of them to suit the personality of the lady in your life and help her get her jewelry in order.

With over 75 gift ideas for her, I hope this post has given you many ideas for those “hard to shop for” ladies in your life! Happy shopping!
